Elsewhere, 2nd placed Villarreal continued their impressive form, champions Real Madrid drew 2-2 at Zaragoza and Atletico Madrid secured a priceless victory.

A wonderful attacking performance from Valencia saw off Levante as David Villa grabbed a hattrick whilst Angulo and Mata helped out the striker who is linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer.

Zaragoza's future remains hanging firmly in the balance after the Champions Real Madrid came to town and left with a point. Oliveira and Sergio scored for Zaragoza, whilst Robinho and van Nistelrooy scored for the Madrid giants.
