Newcastle United edge closer to Harry Maguire loan deal
Newcastle United have moved a step closer to completing a loan deal for Man Utd defender Harry Maguire, as the England international looks set to end his Old Trafford hell with a transfer to St James' Park on a year long transfer. It is understood that the Toon Army will cover the £200,000 amount Maguire is currently paid by United as part of the terms of the deal.
Maguire has struggled since his arrival at Old Trafford, but has remained England's first choice centre-back in recent times. With uncertainty over his long term future at United, Maguire is seeking a move elsewhere, and manager Erik Ten Hag is ready to let the player leave for a cut price deal.
Other clubs are also known to be interested, with Aston Villa and Everton amongst the teams contacting United with regards to a loan transfer.
It is Newcastle though who are leading the pack. Newcastle's manager Eddie Howe wants to add strength in depth to his defensive options and sees Maguire as the perfect addition to his squad.
