Micky van de Ven on his way to Spurs?

Tottenham have entered the race to sign VfL Wolfsburg's defender Micky van de Ven on a five-year contract. Spurs are looking to add defensive reinforcements to their squad ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, and with a price tag of 17 million, Spurs are likely to be very happy with the signing of the 22-year-old seen as a hot prospect for the future.

Micky van de Ven has appeared for the Netherlands under-21 team, and was a member of the preliminary squad for last year's World Cup in Qatar, and has yet to appear for his full national team. At 6 foot 4, the Wormer-born defender has bags of potential and could slot in to Tottenham's defence as a replacement for Davinson Sanchez.

New manager Ange Postecoglou wants to revamp his back line ahead of the new campaign and sees the Wolfsburg man as top target.

Liverpool were amongst the teams monitoring Micky van de Ven's transfer situation, with the Anfield side interested in the player's versatility. Van der Wen is confident playing at left-back or on the right or left side of central defence.
