Manchester United have cooled their interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong this summer.

The Netherlands international was closely monitored by United last season with many predicting that he could replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

However, Wan-Bissaka had a terrific second half to the campaign, and he was heavily praised by manager Erik ten Hag for his vast improvement.

It is now reported that United have ended their pursuit of Frimpong, who scored nine goals and provided 11 assists for Leverkusen last term.

Frimpong's creativity has been his main strength, but Ten Hag is now content working with Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot for the right-back role.

Dalot recently put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal with United, and Wan-Bissaka could be handed the chance to renew in the coming weeks.

Ten Hag appreciates the attacking and defensive qualities of Dalot and Wan-Bissaka respectively, and has no plans to replacing the latter.

Instead of pursuing a right-back, the club could invest the money on a new central defender, suppose Harry Maguire heads for the exit door.
