Crystal Palace failed to sign Eden Hazard
Crystal Palace attempted to sign former Chelsea star Eden Hazard on a free transfer earlier this summer.
The Belgian star has struggled with fitness issues over the past few years, and he is currently a free-agent following his release from Real Madrid.
The 32-year-old was fancied to join another club in either July or August, but we are now into September and he has yet to decide on his future.
According to Dean Jones, Palace made a genuine attempt to land Hazard and they were prepared to make him one of their highest earners.
Hazard was not tempted to make the return to London, and Jones feels the Belgian could call time on his career with his lack of motivation.
The former Lille man was one of the best playmakers during his time at Chelsea. He made the big-money move to Madrid in June 2019.
His four-year spell with Madrid was plagued by several injuries. He never became a regular starter for the club and was finally released.
