Steve Cooper provides update on Andrey Santos
Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has described Chelsea loanee Andrey Santos as a really good young player amid speculation that the Blues could recall him in January.
The Brazilian was handed his UK work permit earlier this summer and the Blues immediately chose to loan him out. He was on the radar of Lyon but Forest won the race to sign him.
Since his move to City Ground, Santos has played just 90 minutes in the Carabao Cup. He has yet to make his Premier League debut and has been left out of the matchday squad many times.
This has spread speculation that the Blues could recall him in the New Year and when asked about it, Cooper said: "He’s been good. He’s obviously a really good young player."
"I had a really good chat with Chelsea [about him] this week. I didn’t realise some stuff had been written about him."
Santos has cut a frustrated figure with Forest over the past few weeks, but he will be hoping to make his league debut for them against Crystal Palace this weekend.
