Liverpool set to beat Arsenal to Brazilian signing

Liverpool are set to beat Arsenal in the race to sign Brazilian midfielder Andre this winter, according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old was heavily linked with the Reds in the last transfer window and they were much fancied to land his signature.

However, a transfer did not materialise as Fluminense had no plans of losing their prized asset midway through the campaign.

In recent days, it has been reported that Arsenal have joined the race, but Football Insider claim that the Reds remain favourites to sign him.

The Merseyside giants have a verbal agreement in place with Fluminense and the player and are confident of striking a winter deal for him.

Andre is a defensive midfielder by trade and he is already a full international with Brazil. He is said to be eager to move to England.

Liverpool could be the perfect destination for him. The club are craving for an elite defensive midfielder after selling Fabinho last summer.
