Varane gets green light to leave United?

Manchester United have given the green light to sell defender Raphael Varane in January amid interest from Bayern Munich.

The centre-back started the season as a regular in the first XI for United, but he has lost his spot over the past few weeks.

Varane has been on the bench with Harry Maguire preferred in the right centre-back role.

Erik ten Hag does not want to play him in the left centre-back position as he is not effective enough.

It is now reported by Sky Germany that United are aware that the defender is unhappy at the moment.

They are prepared to sanction his sale in the New Year, provided they receive between €20-30m.

Bayern Munich are said to be interested in the World Cup winner, but have not made any move for him.

Varane's wages are a big stumbling block for them and he may need to accept a pay-cut to join.

A number of Saudi clubs are also keeping tabs. The Frenchman could chose that option instead.
