Man Utd want to sign £80m star using transfer expert

Manchester United are looking to sign Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite with the help of transfer expert Jason Wilcox.

The Red Devils are expected to recruit a marquee centre-back in the summer transfer window with Raphael Varane expected to leave the club.

Varane has had another injury-plagued campaign and the hierarchy have decided against renewing his contract expiring at the end of June.

Branthwaite is the top target to replace the Frenchman but it will take at least £80 million to persuade the Toffees to part ways with him.

Amidst this, The Sun report that United are looking to take the help of Wilcox, who is expected to join the backroom staff in the coming days.

Wilcox recently stepped down from the sporting director role at Southampton and United are currently negotiating a compensation fee.

The Red Devils believe his arrival could hand them an advantage in the race for Branthwaite. He is close friends with the defender's agent.
