Man Utd preparing move for Barcelona defender

Manchester United are preparing a move to sign Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo, according to AS.

The Uruguayan has been a mainstay at the heart of the Blaugrana defence, but his future is currently uncertain.

His present contract expires in June 2026 and as things stand, the club are not in a position to hand a pay rise.

Araujo is said to be unsettled by the situation and AS claim that United could lure him by greatly increasing his salary.

Barcelona require around €100m to balance their books and they could demand a similar fee to part ways with Araujo.

Bayern Munich are also admirers of the talented 25-year-old, but they are unlikely to make an approach at the moment.

Matthijs de Ligt has managed to redeem himself over recent months and Bayern are not actively looking to sign a centre-back.

Aside from Araujo, there are claims that Raphinha and Frenkie de Jong could be sold to ease Barcelona's financial woes.
