Manchester United have won the race to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee ahead of AC Milan, according to Give Me Sport.

The Red Devils have been searching for a new marksman in the last few weeks and they have finally found their solution.

Zirkzee was initially touted to make the move to AC Milan, but the Rossoneri were unable to strike a deal with his representative.

The Milan giants refused to meet the €15m commission demanded. On the other hand, United have no concerns over the same.

Hence, they are in pole position to land his signature by paying his €40m release clause. Personal terms could be a formality.

Joshua Zirkzee is currently with the Netherlands at the European Championship, but United can still secure an agreement.

Instead of triggering his buy-out clause in one payment, United are likely to negotiate a long-term payment plan with Bologna.

In that way, the Red Devils can save funds to invest on other key positions during the ongoing transfer window.
