Man Utd close to completing their first summer signing

Manchester United are close to completing the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils have already agreed personal terms with the Netherlands international and they are currently preparing talks with Bologna.

The club have the option to trigger his £34 million release clause, but the hierarchy prefer to discuss a long-term payment plan instead.

Bologna are aware of United's preference and it is only a matter of time before the Red Devils secure an agreement with the Italian side.

Zirkzee looks set to become United's first signing of the summer.

There could be plenty more in the coming weeks. The club are in advanced talks to sign Matthijs de Ligt as well as Manuel Ugarte.

They have also made bids on the table for Jarrad Branthwaite and Leny Yoro. The club are working simultaneously on each of the deals.

United boss Erik ten Hag wants the club to complete the majority of the signings before the start of the United States pre-season tour.
