Atletico Madrid to sign Robin Le Normand
Atletico Madrid have agreed a fee with Real Sociedad to sign Euro 2024 winning defender Robin Le Normand, with the centre-back set to sign a long-term deal with his new club. Le Normand was a crucial member of Spain's squad in the summer tournament, and has 17 caps to his name.
The French-born defender began his career playing for Brest in his homeland, before Sociedad were able to bring the then 19-year-old to Spain in a deal worth an estimated 4 million euros. An impressive career at Sociedad followed, and the player has been an almost ever-present for Sociedad in recent campaigns. Diego Simeone, the Atleti coach, will be delighted to have bolstered his defence with such a strong talent this summer.
It is understood that Atletico had agreed a fee of 35 million euros during the Euro 2024 tournament, but after Le Normand's impressive performances on the way to winning the trophy, Sociedad renegotiated a deal to 40 million euros. Atletico Madrid have beaten Bayern Munich and Italian side Juventus to the signing of Le Normand, who will stay with his new club until at least 2028.
