Ten Hag on Rashford's substitution vs Porto

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed the reason behind substituting Marcus Rashford at half-time against Porto last night.

The England international had a fantastic opening half against the Portuguese outfit. He scored and assisted a goal for Rasmus Hojlund.

Despite this, he was surprisingly taken off at the interval. Alejandro Garnacho took his place on the left wing following the restart yesterday.

Speaking after the 3-3 Europa League draw, Ten Hag was asked for the reason for the surprise change to which he hinted at rotation.

He said: "Garnacho was my best player on Sunday by far. Over the left side we didn't defend well and Marcus also plays a part in this. But it was about Garnacho and nothing against Rashy."

Ten Hag has been reluctant to play Rashford and Garnacho together in the starting XI this term, but he needs to change his mentality.

We believe the duo should feature together on the left and right wing respectively when United face Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.
