Cristiano Doni said after signing the papers:

"I have never hidden the fact that I want to finish my career here.

“I have a very strong bond with Atalanta, with the city of Bergamo where I have lived for a long time and with the Nerazzurri fans.

“Therefore I am delighted to have prolonged my contract by another year. It is a great sign of respect from the club.”

Atalanta director Alessandro Ruggeri had this to say:

"I am very happy that Cristiano will stay with us for another two years.

“We all know how important Doni is to this group on the pitch and in the dressing room.
