Spanish side Atletico Madrid have declared that they are one the brink of increasing the share of the season ticket holders from just over 47,000 to almost 50,000.

Atletico Madrid are Spain's third biggest side and have the ninth most expensive season ticket prices in La Liga. In the 2007-2008 season Atleti had a total of 47,021 season ticket holders but there were 1,200 people on the waiting list.

Atletico Madrid finished fourth in La Liga in the recently concluded season and have earned themselves a place in the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round.

Although Atleti have decided not to increase the price of each season ticket, they have declared that they woud step up the season tickets by 3,000 for next season.

This would imply that there would be almost 50,000 season ticket holders for Atletico Madrid at the Estadio Vicente Calderon. Season ticket holders are at the moment restricted to home league matches and European qualifying rounds but it is expected that Atletico would allow their season ticket holders for the league and knock-out stages of the Champions League too.
