Sevilla defender Federico Fazio has said that although they couldn't qualify for the UEFA Champions League for next season, his side are good enough to lift the UEFA Cup for the third time in four years.

Sevilla finished just outside of the top four in Spain's La Liga in the recently concluded 2007-2008 season and have therefore to stay contended with UEFA Cup football next season.

This is being oberved a step towards the retreat by many football pundits since Sevilla played in the UEFA Champions League in the 2007-2008 season after finishing third, and that too on the final day, in the previous season.

But 21-year old Fazio, who won the World U-20 Championship with Argentina last summer, insists that even the UEFA Cup is a major silverware and is confident that they can lift the trophy.

He told the Madrid based Spanish sports daily Marca:

"In balance it is good because although we have not achieved our objective of the Champions League, we have been able to reach the Uefa Cup, which is still an attractive competition and is one that we will go out to win.

"I have played more than I could have hoped for and also got a chance in the Champions League."

Sevilla won back to back UEFA Cup titles in 2006 and 2007 under former coach Juande Ramos.
