Chelsea’s chairman wants to show Frank Lampard that he will feel “loved” if he stays at Stamford Bridge.

The 29 year old was the subject of intense transfer speculation last season, with Serie A champions Inter Milan looking the likely beneficiaries.

Bruce Buck said: “We've said all along, we love Frank Lampard, the fans love Frank Lampard, and he's a great player. We want him to stay at Chelsea Football Club. We're hopeful, confident, that we'll reach agreement with Frank and he'll be here for the long-term”.

A move abroad may favour the experienced England international with a new start proving the natural step after a disappointing end to the season and the recent death of his mother.

However, contract talks after England friendlies with USA and Trinidad and Tobago could be lifted if Chelsea can land the signature of £28million rated Real Madrid forward Robinho, the catalyst in their title winning season.
