Enzo Maresca speaks on Liam Delap ahead of Sunday's game
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has spoken fondly about Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap ahead of the Premier League clash on Sunday.
The Blues are currently fourth in the league standings and need to keep on winning to stay in the Champions League hunt this campaign.
Ahead of Sunday's game, Maresca was asked about Delap's progress at Ipswich, considering the Blues are reportedly interested in signing him.
The Blues boss said: "In terms of numbers, Liam is doing fantastic. I think he's scored 12 [Premier League] goals already. The way he plays and fights and is always 'there'."
Delap has performed above expectations for the Tractor Boys. He has bagged 12 goals and two assists in the Premier League so far.
Ipswich are close to being relegated from the top-flight. This will reportedly activate a relegation release clause of around £30 million.
Chelsea are prepared to trigger the clause to purchase him, but they are set to face competition from Manchester United and Liverpool.
Delap will demand a guaranteed starting role at his next club.
