'One of the best': Enzo Maresca praises Chelsea star after Everton win

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has heaped praise on midfielder Romeo Lavia following the 1-0 Premier League win over Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues jumped back into the top five after a hard-fought victory over the Toffees. Nicolas Jackson scored the winner with a terrific strike from outside the box.

Speaking after the game, Maresca spoke fondly about Lavia, who has had plenty of injury concerns since his move from Southampton in the summer of 2023.

He said: "When he's fit, he's one of the best midfielders because he can defend very well, he can attack, he breaks the line, the pass between the lines, it's unbelievable. He's very good."

Lavia has spent most of his Chelsea career on the sidelines with muscle injuries, but Maresca will hope he can stay fit for the rest of the ongoing campaign.

The Blues must finish in the top five in the league to qualify for the Champions League. They could end the season by winning silverware through the Conference League.
