Chelsea midfielder on his way to Burnley

Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu is set to join Burnley on a permanent basis this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 21-year-old signed for the Blues from Rennes in the summer of 2023 and made only 12 appearances during his debut campaign.

He was loaned out to Southampton in the summer of 2024. Despite the Saints' struggles, he was impressive in his 31 appearances.

Romano now reports that the Clarets have won the race to land the Frenchman on a permanent deal from the Blues.

He has already been authorised to undergo his medical with the Turf Moor outfit and could formally sign his contract soon.

Ugochukwu arrived in the Premier League with a big reputation from Ligue 1 and he has now found a permanent home with the Clarets.

Southampton were relegated from the top-flight without much of a fight, but Ugochukwu will be hoping for a different outcome at Burnley.

Alongside him, Armando Broja is also set for a permanent transfer away from Chelsea. He is also expected to join the Lancashire club.
