Liverpool want to sign Belgian star in January

Liverpool have their sights on landing Sporting Lisbon defender Zeno Debast when the transfer window reopens in January.

The Reds were keen on landing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi last winter, but could not seal an agreement with the Eagles.

Guehi underwent his medical tests with the Merseyside giants, but Palace pulled the plug on the deal as they could not find a replacement.

The Englishman's current deal expires at the end of the campaign, but Palace could be prepared to release him on a free instead of a winter sale.

Amidst this, Record claim that Debast has been identified as Guehi's alternative and the club could pursue a deal this winter.

The Reds are prepared to test Sporting's resolve with an offer of 40 million euros, but the Primeira Liga giants could demand more.

Debast has a release clause worth 70 million euros in his deal, and Sporting could demand at least 60 million euros for his services.
