Manchester United could make an audacious swoop for Italian striker Mateo Retegui, who is currently playing for Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah.

The 26-year-old was on the radar of Premier League teams last summer, but he ended up moving to the Saudi top-flight from Atalanta instead.

He has impressed in the early phase with three goals, but Tuttosport claim that United could bring him back to European football in the near future.

Benjamin Sesko has done a good job upfront with two goals, but United reportedly want strong competition for places in the striking department.

Rasmus Hojlund could have done the role brilliantly, but the Dane was reluctant to play backup and decided to join Napoli on an initial loan.

The Serie A giants have an option and a conditional obligation to buy. Whatever happens, they are expected to sign Hojlund permanently.

United now have their sights on Retegui and it is claimed that they could pay £61 million to secure his services from Al Qadsiah next year.
