Man Utd identify number one midfield target for 2026 - Romano

Manchester United have identified Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba as their number one target to bolster the midfield department next summer, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils were keen on landing the Cameroon international last summer, but the Seagulls made it clear that they would not entertain any offers. Their stance is unlikely to change for the season.
United are still interested in the former Lille man and will make a fresh approach when the season ends. Baleba has already given the green light for a move to Old Trafford during next summer's transfer window.
Romano said: "My information, guys, remains that there are several names, and we will discuss all of them in the videos these days. But I keep telling you that Man Utd want Carlos Baleba and Baleba wants to go to Man Utd."
Baleba is likely to cost at least £100 million. Alongside him, the Red Devils are also exploring the prospect of landing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest amid his immense progress over the last 18 months.
