Arsenal & Chelsea interested in signing Darryl Bakola

Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in landing the signature of Marseille midfielder Darryl Bakola during the winter transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.

The 18-year-old has had a good breakout campaign with Marseille in French football. He has made eight appearances, including one start in the Champions League against Newcastle United.

Bakola grabbed an assist against the Magpies and also won 100 percent of his ground duels. This has caught the eye of Arsenal and Chelsea, who are weighing up bids ahead of the New Year.

The youngster will enter the final 18 months of his contract next month. Marseille have already made a concrete offer to extend his deal.

If there is no resolution before December 31, the French heavyweights could seriously contemplate his departure during the next transfer window.

Bakola has been likened to Mesut Ozil by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, given his precise distribution and movement in the final third.

Newcastle are also keeping tabs on the 18-year-old's situation.
