Liverpool consider bid for controversial forward

Liverpool are considering a transfer move to sign Marseille forward Mason Greenwood next summer, as the club intensify their search to identify a replacement for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is likely to depart Anfield at the end of the season and is keen on a move to Saudi Arabia, and could command a fee of around £30 million, which would contribute a significant part of the funds required to sign Greenwood.
Marseille are understood to have placed a minimum fee release clause in Greenwood's contract of 100 million euros, but would be willing to sell the forward for around £60 million if the timing is right. Under Roberto de Zerbi, Greenwood has been in excellent form once again this season as his club sits 3rd in Ligue 1.
Greenwood is ready to return to England despite controversy surrounding his departure from Manchester United, and it is understood that after being cleared of any wrongdoing the forward has emerged as a possible signing for Liverpool.
Greenwood has helped contribute 18 goals and assists at the half way point so far this campaign.
