Man Utd told to sign Hato

Manchester United have been urged to sign Chelsea defender Jorrel Hato during the summer transfer window.

The Netherlands international signed for the Blues from Ajax with a big reputation last summer, but he has been a fringe player since.

The 19-year-old has managed under 400 minutes in the Premier League and has started on the bench despite Marc Cucurella being injured.

Malo Gusto was recently preferred over him in the left-back position, and he only came on during the final 10 minutes against Burnley.

Former Man United coach Rene Meulensteen believes the Red Devils should pounce on the opportunity to sign him this summer.

He said: "If I were a Premier League club, including Manchester United, and he's a viable option or will become one, I would definitely take him. He's still very young and has a lot of potential."

United currently have Luke Shaw and Patrick Dorgu as the left-back options, but the latter has been much effective as a winger.

The hierarchy are likely to enter the transfer market for a new option and it remains to be seen whether they consider Hato for the role.

There is no indication that Chelsea will part ways with him.
