Barca closing in on Mancini

AS Roma's attacking winger Mancini is set to sign a contract with Barcelona and sources claim that he has agreed personal terms with the Catalan club.

Mancini has been linked with a move to "a top European club",with Juventus, Barcelona, Inter, Liverpool and Lyon lining up for the Brazilian. Roma was willing to sell the player, as he refused to sign a contract extension.

Mancini's contract with Roma will end in 2009, allowing him to move to any club on a Bosman transfer next season. AS Roma has reportedly agreed a fee with Barcelona for the player.

The sources from Italy report that Mancini's agent, Gilmar Veloz, have agreed a four-year contract with Barcelona for his client.

The deal is speculated to be around €3.7M a year. Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano has already declared that the club is interested in signing the 28-year old.

"I am not saying that we are not interested in Mancini,” Soriano stated.

An official confirmation has not yet arrived on the signing, though Barca's representative, Ernesto Bronzetti, was in Rome yesterday for transfer talks.
