Chelsea beat Arsenal to Morgan Rogers deal

Rogers chooses Chelsea

Chelsea have reached an agreement to sign Arsenal target Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for a club-record fee, according to David Ornstein.

The England international was widely touted to join the Gunners, and it was reported that he was fully sold on the project presented by manager Mikel Arteta.

However, the Blues have now hijacked their pursuit out of nowhere. They have agreed a package worth £117m, and personal terms are a mere formality too.

Rogers has been convinced to join the west London giants after personally speaking with manager Xabi Alonso, which represents a huge blow for the Gunners.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was determined to bring the 23-year-old to the club this summer, and Arsenal now need to refocus and pursue another marquee left winger.

Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola has been heavily linked with the Gunners, but the European champions have no plans to sell him at the current point in time. Liverpool are also his admirers.
