Arsenal stance on signing Bruno Guimaraes

Arsenal are currently reluctant to meet the asking price to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have earmarked Guimaraes as their priority midfield target, but they are unlikely to pay over the odds for the 28-year-old sensation.

Arsenal presently value the Brazilian at around £60 million, while the Magpies are only willing to listen to offers between £80-85m for their captain.

This has led to an impasse in discussions through intermediaries. Arsenal have yet to change their stance, and may end up missing out on his services.

Arsenal have had a quiet summer thus far. The club have made just one signing in goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer from Leeds United.

They are about to land Club Brugge winger Christos Tzolis in the next two days, but the fans will expect much better after lifting the league title.

The club must show more transfer ambition in the coming weeks.
