Maggio to leave Sampdoria

Aston Villa target Christian Maggio is looking likely to leave Sampdoria this summer. There were reports in January that the Italian wing back would be moving to the Premiership, and the reports have resurfaced.

Sampdoria chief Beppe Marotta confirmed that an offer had been made for the Italian.

"Sadly we are not Real Madrid who can afford to buy a galactico each year; if anything we have to sell an important element each year," Marotta told the city's Secolo newspaper.

"As yet, we have had an inquiry, around 10 million euros, which is not yet tempting us."
