Arsenal refusing to give up on Argentine star

Arsenal are refusing to give up on signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez before the transfer window slams shut.

The Gunners have made a solitary attacking signing in Christos Tzolis this summer, and he has made a big impression thus far.

The Greek was constantly among goal contributions in pre-season and he has started his debut campaign on a positive note.

Tzolis bagged two assists in the Community Shield win over Manchester City, and also created two goals against Coventry City in the Premier League.

He has already becoming a favourite among the fans, but the Gunners are still keen on landing a marquee centre-forward before the deadline.

Alvarez is the priority target for the hierarchy and manager Mikel Arteta, but the forward remains adamant that he won't be joining the club.

While he has rich admiration for the London giants, the 26-year-old continues to dream about joining the Blaugrana before the deadline.

Atletico, on their part, won't entertain his departure to Barca.
