Liverpool favourites to sign 22yo Chelsea target

Liverpool are emerging as front-runners to land AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, who was a top target for Chelsea earlier this summer.

The Blues were determined to land Camara as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who was sold to Manchester City earlier this month.

They had a verbal agreement in place for the Senegal international, but Monaco pulled the plug on the deal before the transfer deadline.

The French outfit believed Folarin Balogun was on his way to Everton on a permanent transfer and did not want to lose Camara alongside him.

Ultimately, both players stayed at the Ligue 1 giants. Balogun decided against joining Everton, who had concerns over his injury record.

It is now claimed that Camara could be on the move this winter, and Liverpool are reportedly the prime contenders to land his services.

Chelsea have been long-term admirers of the £50m-rated star, but won't be returning for the 22-year-old after the unfruitful situation this summer.
