Chelsea striker set to visit specialist for knee injury

Chelsea striker Joao Pedro is expected to see a specialist in the coming days to speed up his recovery from a knee injury, according to Standard Sport.

The Brazil international has been in superb form for the west London giants this campaign, but he is presently sidelined with an edema in his knee.

It contributed to him missing the 3-0 loss to Brentford on the road, and it is still uncertain whether he will be fit when the season resumes next month.

Brazil confirmed that Pedro would require a rest of around three weeks, and the Blues will now send him to a specialist to speed up his recovery.

Chelsea have made a poor start to the Premier League campaign with just seven points from five matches and need a turnaround next month.

Things won't be getting any easier for the club, given they face Bournemouth, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Sunderland in their next five league matches.

They also have a tough League Cup fourth round tie at Liverpool.
