Ayden Heaven set for new Man Utd role

Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven could have a new role under manager Michael Carrick following a double injury blow.

The Red Devils have suffered a double injury blow during the international break with both Patrick Dorgu and Noussair Mazraoui sidelined.

Dorgu sustained a hamstring injury on Nations League duty for Denmark, while Mazraoui picked up a lower back concern playing for Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Both players are now set for an extended period on the sidelines, and this has left United short in the left-back department, given Luke Shaw is the only fit senior solution for the position at the current point.

The double setback could possibly be a blessing in disguise for Heaven, who could get some minutes on the left side of the defence as cover for Shaw.

Shaw can't start every game with his injury record. With the heavy workload in the coming weeks, Carrick will need another option for the position.

Heaven has the attributes to play in the role with his sublime distribution and ball-carrying ability, and could get minutes after the international break.
