Man Utd close to appointing Antonio Conte?

Manchester United are close to appointing Antonio Conte as their new manager, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Red Devils have had a poor start to the Premier League campaign, picking up only six points from as many games.

This has increased speculation about the future of manager Michael Carrick. He could be dismissed if things don't improve soon.

Amidst this, Tuttomercatoweb claim that Conte is already negotiating terms with United and could become their head coach soon.

Carrick continues to have the faith of the United hierarchy, but their stance could change if the results don't improve in the coming matches.

United have a tricky schedule coming up with three away games.

They will be at Atletico Madrid in the Champions League tomorrow before travelling to old rivals Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday.

This will be followed by another away European game at Como.

Hence, Carrick has a tough task on his hands. If United can't return to winning ways, his position could come under serious scrutiny.
