Hincapie out for weeks with ankle injury

Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie could be sidelined for four weeks following an ankle injury sustained after the Premier League clash against Leeds United last weekend.

The Ecuador international made a short cameo against Leeds at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. After the game, he was involved in a warm-down session where he sustained an ankle sprain.

Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed in his pre-match press conference yesterday that Hincapie's injury seems serious, and reports now claim that he could be out of action for three to four weeks.

Hincapie's absence means Riccardo Calafiori could continue at left-back for the Gunners in tonight's Champions League clash against Lille at home.

If he is given a breather, Myles Lewis-Skelly could be asked to slot into the defensive role, moving away from his midfield position this term.

Arsenal started their European campaign with a 1-0 win over Napoli and should be clear-cut favourites to beat Lille at the Emirates tonight.
