Chelsea star set to miss Everton game with injury

Chelsea could be without their talismanic captain, Reece James, when they face Everton on the road in the Premier League on Saturday.

The England international recently sustained a knee injury before the Bournemouth game and subsequently missed the 5-1 win at home.

James has since missed another open training session and reports claim that he is unlikely to be fit for the league trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Blues manager Xabi Alonso recently said that James will be assessed on a week-by-week basis. The club are unlikely to take any risks with him.

James has been injury-plagued at different stages of his career and the club may want him to fully recover from the latest setback to make the pitch.

Despite his absence, Chelsea should go into the league match with plenty of confidence after the commanding win over the Cherries on home turf.

They should fancy another solid victory over the Toffees on the road.
