Man Utd plotting move for Barcelona midfielder

Manchester United are plotting a surprise move for Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The Red Devils have endured a difficult start to the campaign and have picked up only seven points after nine Premier League games played.

The club have struggled with their finishing in the final third, and United could seek an attacking upgrade at the beginning of next year.

The Daily Mail now claim that Lopez has emerged as a top target for the Red Devils and a formal bid could be made for the Spain international.

The 23-year-old made 30 goal contributions for the Catalan giants last term and has already managed nine in just 12 appearances this season.

He is primarily an attacking midfielder but can play on the left wing too. Hence, he would be a superb acquisition but may not come on the cheap.

It could take a staggering fee of around £100m to persuade Barcelona into a sale. Lopez would also need to be convinced to move to Old Trafford.
