Arsenal considering Volkan?

Arsenal are rumoured to be ready to make an offer for Volkan Demirel, the Turkish international goalkeeper who plays for Fenerbahce in Turkey's Super Lig - widely regarded as the best goalkeeper there.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger has been watching the 26 year goalie for some time, and is now ready to make an offer for the Fenerbahce man.

In Euro 2008, Volkan helped Turkey into the semi-finals with some stunning stops, before being sent off and replaced for Turkey's final two games with legendary Rustu Recber.

Arsenal are preparing for the long-term future and Manuel Almunia is ready for a backup; and Volkan could prove that Arsenal are looking to the future beyond Almunia.

The Gunners may find themselves having to pay around £4 million to bring the shot stopper to the Premiership.
