Ridsdale offers to leave Cardiff

Peter Ridsdale has offered to resign his post as chairman of Cardiff City following a string of abuse from the clubs' supporters.

Speaking to BBC Wales, Ridsdale said that the abuse directed at him has forced him to evaluate his future at the club with the fans wanting former chairman Sam Hammam back in charge.

"I am getting more stick for saving Cardiff City than I did when things went wrong at Leeds. If the fans want Sam Hammam back in charge, as many of them are telling me, then maybe they should have him." One fan text Ridsdale, saying, "We want Sam Hammam back."

Ridsdale offered his resignation at a board meeting today, but it was turned down by the directors. This however is not the end of the matter and Ridsdale still believes he is being driven out of the club: "Right now, I feel like walking away. The future for the football club would be bleak, maybe even liquidation. Do I want to do that? No, I really am passionate about what's happening. Am I being driven away? Yes. I believe I am."

It seems that only time will tell if the fans get their wish.
