Eto'o suffers racist abuse

Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o has reportedly suffered racial abuse during the game against Malaga on Saturday.

Spanish newspapers reported that the referee has however denied these claims.



El Pais and Marca reported that the Cameroonian was subjected to "monkey chants" from the crowd during the second half of Barcelona's 4-1 defeat of the home side.

TV replays shows that Eto'o was booed when he was substituted towards the end of the game but there was no mention of abuse in the referee's match report and this type of behaviour was described as "normal".

This is the fifth time the Cameroonian had suffered racist abuse and the clubs involved were only handed paltry fines.

Racism is everywhere in the Spanish game but sadly the country's football federation has shown no desire to rid this menace from the game.

FIFA introduced a points deduction system for clubs found guilty of this but despite several incidents of racism in the Spanish league this measure is yet to be implemented.
