Comolli joins St Etienne

Axed former Tottenha director of football Damien Comolli has been appointed St. Etienne's new football director.

St Etienne president Bernard Caiazzo told the club's official website, www.asse.fr: ``Our decision is to put in place a strong management team in charge of sporting matters with a true patron at the helm, and that will be Damien Comolli.

``He will occupy a role equivalent to that which he had at Tottenham. This heavyweight reinforcement will help us to recover from our slump.''
