Bassong to leave Newcastle?

Newcastle United's young defender Sebastian Bassong might leave the club if they go down to Championship football. The Tyneside club is under relegation threat and it depends on their match against Aston Villa tonight if they will survive the test and hang on in the Premier League.

Newcastle United might release many players and would sell a few if they go down, including Alan Smith and Sebastian Bassong. Bassong announced that he does not want to play in Championship as it would be a set back in his career.

He announced that he would leave the club if they are relegated and will look to stay in the Premier League.
