Carragher: Liverpool must do better

Jamie Carragher wants Liverpool to bounce back from their latest setback and concentrate on qualifying for next season's Champions League.

The defender saw his side lose 2-1 to Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday after leading the Gunners and the latest defeat was Liverpool's sixth in the league this season.

Liverpool are now in seventh spot in the Premier League and five points behind Aston Villa in the fourth Champions League qualifying spot. With the Anfield side having been knocked out of the competition at the group stage, fans will hope their team can get back there next season.

They will be looking to get their Premier League ambitions back on track when they play Wigan at Anfield on Wednesday and Carragher admitted this is a massive game from which they need three points.

"We've just got to dust ourselves down now and move to Wednesday. For the quality of the players and the stature of the club, we should be doing better," said the defender.

"We've got to look at ourselves and realise that we've got to do much better."

Rafael Benitez hit back last week at Jurgen Klinsmann after the former Germany manager questioned the Spaniard's record at Anfield.

Klinsmann had said Liverpool lack creativity, quality and consistency, a claim which was quashed by Benitez, who sarcastically questioned the German's own record as a manager.
