Arsenal want to urgently sign Spanish midfielder

Arsenal want to urgently sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The north London giants are long-term admirers of the Spanish star and they have been following him for the last 18 months.

The club have been willing to pay his €60m release clause in this period, but Zubimendi has resisted the chance to leave Sociedad.

It is now reported that the Gunners want to sign him urgently this winter, but the midfielder has no desire to head for an exit.

Zubimendi remains committed to Sociedad and plans to see out the remainder of the campaign before considering a new club.

Bayern Munich are also interested in landing the talented 24-year-old, but Arsenal are deemed favourites to land him this summer.

Mikel Arteta has been in contact with Zubimendi for a while and he remains optimistic that the midfielder will choose Arsenal.

Zubimendi's arrival at the London giants could coincide with the departure of Thomas Partey, who has been linked with a move to Saudi.
