Aston Villa wrap up transfer window - no more new faces expected

Unai Emery news

Villa transfer business done

Unai Emery has surprised many Aston Villa fans by announcing that the club's January transfer window is complete. Villa have agreed terms and a fee for Middlesbrough forward Morgan Rogers, but the club had been linked with a midfielder and another attacker before the transfer window closes on Thursday.

Rogers will sign a long term contract at Villa Park in a deal worth a reported £25 million and will be available to play Villa's next game. Villa slumped to a 3-1 defeat to Newcastle at home yesterday, and many fans are concerned that this could signal a reverse in fortunes.

When asked if Villa would sign anymore new players, Unai Emery responded:  "Definitely not."

Emery appears confident that Rogers is the only new player that he needs: "Hopefully we can sign him and he can start his new chapter here. We are motivated and excited to work with him. He’s a young player, he can adapt to our style of play. Hopefully tomorrow he can sign and can start working with us and exploiting his qualities as a player."
