Arsenal manager rules out January transfer activity
Arsenal defeated Nottingham Forest in a 2-0 victory at the City Ground last night, with goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus earning an important three points. However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta bemoaned the squad's depth after the game, and ruled out signing any new faces for the January transfer window.
Arsenal have had several high profile injuries this season, and it is certain that the returning Thomas Partey will add cover needed at this midway stage of the season. However, throughout the campaign injuries to the likes of Gabriel Jesus have derailed the Gunners' title challenge.
After the game, Mikel confirmed a lack of new faces this month: "We have one of the thinnest squads in the League, that's for sure, and when you talk about the numbers, especially in certain areas, we are really thin.
"It wasn't possible [to do any January deals]. And now we didn't have the capacity to improve the team in the way that we think we want to improve it, so we decided not to do something yet."
