Liverpool back in for Barry?

Gareth Barry could well still be a transfer target for Liverpool and Rafa Benitez, according to Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill. Barry missed out on an opportunity to join Liverpool last summer after the Villains rejected a reported 18m GBP offer for the player.

Barry decided to stick with Aston Villa until at least the end of the season, however.

Martin O'Neill has revealed that he thinks Liverpool may reignite their interest in the England midfielder: “It is not that I am not sure about what we would like to do, it is that I am not sure about other people. Who is to say that Liverpool would not have come back in in January.

“I just don’t know. I don’t want to be making absolute statements and then finding out you are eating a fair dose of humble pie about two days later.”
