Alonso hints Liverpool exit

Alonso hints Liverpool exit

Xabi Alonso stated that he has not closed any door and would move on, but, he is happy with Liverpool. Real Madrid will be happy to hear this news, as they are keen to sign the Spanish international.

Liverpool are in the verge of losing both their top holding midfielders - Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano - to Spanish clubs. While Alonso is rated high in the Bernabeu, Barcelona has stated their interest in signing Mascherano. Earlier this month, reports suggested that Alonso would be moving out and Benitez would sign Gareth Barry from Aston Villa.

The Liverpool boss had been tracking Barry for quite a while until the Englishman stunned everyone and transferred to Man City. Liverpool has signed only one player this season - an overpaid Glen Johsnon. They might sell more and Alonso's statement supports this fact.

As the Confedaration's Cup is over, many Spanish players have opened up possibilities of transfer talk including David Villa, and Alonso is the latest to speak his mind. He said that he is happy in England, but, he is a bit homesick. He then said that "I cannot rule out a move or even staying in the Premier League."
